Mia Bishop, LAPC

Mia Bishop has a BA in Psychology from Stetson University and a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Mercer University. Prior to becoming a therapist, she worked as a teacher, and has a deep commitment to helping children grow and learn.

Mia works primarily with children, adolescents, and young adults. She is passionate about facilitating self-discovery in an environment where young people can build their social skills and strengthen their confidence. Mia crafts positive connections in a fun and active environment through the incorporation of art, games, activities, and play.

Play-based therapy uses a child’s natural language of play to create an environment where they can more easily process distressing situations, develop emotional literacy, and work on problem solving skills. The skills learned through play therapy help children develop healthier ways of responding to the challenges in their day to day lives

Mia also has experience working with with adults struggling with anxiety, depression, Autism Spectrum Disorder, ADHD, life transitions, stress, relationship problems, and family trauma. Her work is deeply influenced by her background in direct action programs centered around community engagement, youth empowerment, diversity, and social justice.

When she is not working, Mia enjoys playing with her pup, Luna, as well as traveling, reading, and feeding a slight obsession with Marvel movies and Anime.

To those looking for a therapist, Mia writes:

“Everyone deserves a safe and supportive environment that allows for exploration of their true self. My goal as a therapist is to create trusting relationships where health and healing can grow. Everyone who works with me, of any age, will be heard and supported. No one will not feel marginalized regardless of their race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, or worldview. Reach out to me and find the caring support you are looking for.”
