Non-Monogamy: What Every Therapist Should Know

Learn the important terminology and therapeutic concepts you need to help support your clients who are practicing or exploring non-monogamy.

November 18, 2022 – 12:00 to 3:00 pm (3 hours of CE credit*)
Cost: $65

Non-Monogamous relationships have become more popular over the past decade, including everything from “monogamish” to polyamory to relationship anarchy. Every therapist is now likely to encounter clients who are participating in alternative relationship structures. In this workshop, Anna Baxter and Jace Johns-Cooper provide an introduction to non-monogamy including important terminology and concepts every therapist needs to know.

This workshop will include a review of important terminology related to non-monogamy for therapists to increase inclusivity in their intake forms and in the therapy room. We will explore and debunk myths related to non-monogamy and help therapists challenge assumptions and reduce internal bias. Therapists will learn ways to help clients heal from internalized monogamy-informed relational beliefs.

The workshop will address common therapeutic themes that arise for clients who practice non-monogamy including jealousy, attachment insecurity, and infidelity recovery. Therapists will leave with an understanding of the importance of supporting clients at different places in the journey from initial interest in non-monogamy, or opening up a marriage, to blended families or co-parenting challenges.

Testimonials

I have done a lot of self-help and mindfulness workshops, and this was the first time I felt like my relationship to myself genuinely shifted!

I am always grateful for a workshop that is not only educational, but also makes me laugh!

We have quarterly speakers for our corporate wellness series, and Diane was a perfect fit. I learned a lot from her presentation on self-compassion, but it didn’t feel like work! I had no idea this topic would feel so relevant.

Diane is a warm and gifted teacher, making the research and practices easily accessible. I’m so very glad I took this class and cannot recommend it highly enough!

I love Diane! She made everything so relatable that it didn’t feel overwhelming or too daunting.

I think everyone needs to learn the foundations of self-compassion. I would tell a friend that it’ll help in their everyday life to learn the components of self-compassion.
