Background and Experience

Jim has a bachelor’s degree from Emory University, a master’s degree in Education from Georgia State University, and a master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health from the University of the Cumberlands. He worked for over a decade as a teacher, coach, and administrator at the Galloway School in Atlanta before switching into the mental health field. Now working as a pre-licensed therapist, his diverse experience makes him a skilled counselor helping those seeking support and guidance.

Jim Hilleary Life CoachJim has decades of experience with mindfulness and meditation. As a practicing meditator for over 20 years, he is trained in a variety of different approaches including Vipassana meditation, Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction, Mindful Self-Compassion, and Cognitive Based Compassion Training. He teaches clients these skills in the service of their goals.

Jim uses a collaborative style where clients are heard, accepted, and supported in a non-judgmental manner. He creates a physically and emotionally safe space where clients feel free to share honestly about their struggles and challenges. His empathy and compassion allow clients to feel comfortable being their most authentic, vulnerable selves so they can know themselves more deeply and access their own inner wisdom.

Jim has particular expertise working with clients who have ADHD or some other neurodivergence, marriage counseling, career transitions, and sex therapy. He is LGBTQ friendly, and polyamory & kink informed.
